Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager

Reporting To: Clinical Directors


Working with the clinical GP leads:

  • To manage the medications and medical equipment in E Doc to ensure safe, secure and managed medication supplies and equipment as required by the E Doc service.
  • Report to the clinical lead.
  • Do quarterly stock counts.
  • Order medications and equipment as required and approved.
  • Manage, monitor and evaluate professional nursing clinical standards.
  • Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post.
  • Influencing and motivating others to ensure service and quality with individuals in the clinical setting. Facilitate best clinical practice through enablement and motivation.
  • Supporting on-duty nurses in EDoc to evaluate and improve their practice by engaging with each other as well as the patients and their companions.
  • Facilitate co-ordination, co-operation and liaison across healthcare teams and programs.


• The CNM will practice nursing according to Professional Clinical Guidelines, National and Area Health Service Executive (HSE guidelines), local policies, protocols, guidelines and current legislation.

• The applicant will need to provide strong leadership in clinical practice and act as a resource and role model for clinical practice.

• Assist in providing staff leadership and motivation, which is conducive to good staff relations and work performance.

• Ensure that patients, staff and doctors are treated with dignity and respect.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of patient care.

• Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation.

• Participate in clinical audit as required.

• Participate in rotational on-call duties.

• Demonstrate effective change management skills.

Health & Safety:

• Play a central role in maintaining a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors e.g. by contributing to risk assessment.

• Assist in observing and ensuring implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, infection control & medication management.

• Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to a service user’s care or wellbeing, or may be inhibiting the efficient provision of care.

• Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Guidance for the Assessment of Centres for Persons with Disabilities.

Training & Development:

• Identify the training needs of the nursing team and support staff.

• Facilitate and deliver clinical practice training as required.

• Monitor staff performance relating to care and clinical practice and liaise with the Clinical Directors where appropriate to raise the standards of practice.

•            GP OOH Clinic at SMH

Hours of work:

The post holder will work at least 24 Hours a week and will cover all three EDoc clinical locations above.


€58,681 P.A. Pro Rata for hours worked.

Holiday pay:

Calculated at 8% of hours worked.

Division of hours:

Estimates 24 Hours per week – 50%  Clinical Management. 50%  Clinical nursing or as agreed.
