What to look out for:
Symptoms of a cold can include a sore throat, a blocked and sore nose, sneezing, a runny nose which is normally clear and runny at the start before becoming thicker and darker over the course of the infection. Green snot does not mean that you have a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics. It just means that your nose is inflamed and irritated and producing more snot than usual to help fight the viral infection which is causing your cold. With a cold and runny nose you will usually feel worse during the first two to three days before gradually starting to improve. The symptoms in adults and older children usually last for about a week.Colds are caused by a virus, so they can’t be treated with antibiotics.
